On 2nd July 2011, “Section.80” was released and the rest his history! Ok, let me rewind! Kendrick released mixtapes prior to his first studio album, which includes the “Overly Dedicated” mixtape. I will admit that I was late to jumping on the Kendrick train but as soon as I heard his second album, “Good Kid, M.A.A.D City”, I was invested. I wanted to hear everything he’d done so far and that was how I first heard “Section.80”.
I can speak about the greatness that is “Good Kid...” all day but “Section.80” is everything you love about Kendrick in one album. It’s a perfect project, in my opinion, and has stood the test of time. The lyricism, storytelling and production has continually made this an album you have to hear before you die.
