The early 2000s had so much great music. There’s quite a number of albums from that era that have stood the test of time and Amelie’s debut album, “All I Have”, is on that list. She popped onto the scene with the classic summer song, “Why Don’t We Fall In Love”, which is also on this 2002 album. The song’s sound intertwined r&b and hip hop in a way that was extremely popular at the time (e.g. Mary J. Blige and Ashanti), which made us pay attention to Amerie immediately.
With the album dropping after and being certified gold in the US, I thought she would be around for a while. However, her career never flourished. Despite the international success of “1 Thing”, she has never surpassed her debut. It’s her best album and I still play my favourites from this album all the time. If you haven’t heard “All I Have”, make sure you check it out on all streaming platforms.
