THIS IS NOT A DRILL! Bryson Tiller season has started! “Blame” is the first song the singer/rapper has released leading up to his upcoming third album “Serenity”. For slightly over 2 minutes, Bryson laments over a failed relationship and we’re left wanting more. Hopefully we get some more singles (that are longer) or the album SOON!
Last week, Rick Ross dropped “Gold Roses”, another single from his upcoming “Port of Miami 2” album. It features Drake and is actually better than the lacklustre “Money In The Grave”. There’s the usual boss talk but Ross is also reflective on his position in hip hop, which is only right as he’s about to drop his TENTH album on 9th August.
Also on Friday, singer H.E.R. released the song “21”. Obviously, she wrote it when she turned 21 and it’s a very introspective look at the past year, especially as she’s starting to achieve everything she’s dreamed about. Singer Mahalia’s debut album “Love & Compromise” is upon us (6th Sept.) and she released “Simmer” featuring Burna Boy in early July. It samples playground riddim, which most of us will remember from Beenie Man “Who I Am (Sim Simms)”.
